London's best toy shops

If you're planning to visit London with the kids, why not treat them to an exciting trip to one of the city's best toy shops? From famous names like Hamley's to smaller establishments such as Trotters, there are great stores dotted throughout the capital.

Hamley's, Regent Street
Hamley's is the most famous toy store in the UK and is a well-known name across the world, making this the number one place to shop for toys in London. This is the kind of shop that's actually a tourist attraction in its own right; plenty of people come here purely for the classic Hamley's experience! Of course, if you bring your kids here, you may well find it hard to leave without a few little souvenirs. Dating all the way back to 1760 (this particular store opened in 1881), Hamley's spans seven floors and sells everything from soft toys and craft materials to action toys and outdoor games.

Trotters, Kensington High Street
Not all of London's best toy stores are world-famous. Located just a stone's throw from the Royal Garden Hotel, Trotters is a fantastic little shop that specialises in clothes for babies and children. It also has an excellent range of toys which, while small, is very well chosen. Come here to buy beautiful soft toys, fun bath toys, games and more.

Science Museum Shop, South Kensington
The Science Museum is one of the capital's top family attractions, but did you know it's also home to one of its best toy stores? The Science Museum Shop might not only sell children's toys (there are some great books and trinkets for adults too), but their selection is very good. This is the place to come for games, experiment kits and other things to play with that combine education with oodles of fun!

The Disney Store, Oxford Street
The Disney Store is endlessly popular among children, because of course this is where they can pick up toys from their favourite films. This vast shop on Oxford Street is a real Disney wonderland, selling everything from cuddly versions of classic characters to school supplies themed around the latest movies.
