Spending the day in Kensington with your mum

Showing your mum just how special she is to you is important all-year round.

We all lead busy lives, and it's all too easy to forget to make time for your family. However, spending quality time with your mum is important throughout the year.

Kensington is the perfect place to take any member of your family, but offers a number of things that are ideal for experiencing with your mum. Nestled in this beautiful borough of London are a variety of attractions and activities that will appeal to mums of all ages and interests. If you are unfamiliar with the area yourself, Kensington Gardens is a fantastic place to start. From the iconic Peter Pan statue to the breathtaking Italian Gardens, there really is nowhere better to take your family for an afternoon out.

Aside from the stunning scenery, there is plenty to amuse yourself with. Kensington Palace is full of exciting exhibitions and you can even take a tour around this outstanding royal residence to find out more about its beautiful building and its place in history.

Inside Kensington Gardens are the Serpentine Galleries, where you can explore a variety of collections and exhibitions. Now two different galleries, the Serpentine offers different events based on contemporary art and architecture, which echo the seasons of the year.

Outside of the Gardens, Holland Park is the largest park in Kensington with more than 22.2 acres to explore. With the beautiful Kyoto Garden - which was donated in 1991 - and large woodland bursting with wildlife, there is plenty of natural beauty to astound you and your mum.

Enjoying Afternoon Tea with your mum is always a pleasurable experience, but at the Royal Garden Hotel, we ensure it is a special occasion.

After a day out shopping in the borough, there's nowhere better to recuperate and re-energise than the Park Terrace Lounge.

Afternoon Tea is served here and you and your guests can enjoy spectacular views of Kensington Gardens while you eat from your selection of finger sandwiches and delicate cakes. You can even add champagne and strawberries to your meal to add that something extra special and treat your mum in style.

How to get there
Guests staying at the Royal Garden Hotel can get to each venue in just a short walk via Kensington High Street.
